Automation Architect

We are looking for an Automation Architect to assist with developing and aligning strategies, processes, and tooling to drive automation of complex, multi-layer IT systems on premise and in public clouds. You will work closely with other team members to champion automation and ensure automation is a part of solution and software life cycles. You will also thoroughly document strategy, processes as well as automation architecture and educate both sales, solutions, and delivery teams through a mix of written and presented materials.

           

An individual in this role should be able to:

• Assist with researching, designing, and planning automation strategy for complex, multi-layer, secure IT systems in cloud-based and on-premises
• Working with product owners, other architects, software engineers and stakeholders to clarify and document requirements and specifications
• Remain up to date with the latest automation standards, best practices, and tools
• Responsible for creating proof-of-concepts to demonstrate viability of solutions
• Review system/application automation and drive implement necessary process or technical enhancements
• Engage with technical support teams to assist in resolution of day-to-day technical and operational issues including defect management, vulnerability management, and security incidents
• Effectively and clearly communicate with individuals in various levels of the business

 

Required Technical and Professional Experience:

• 5+ years of experience with agile development, operating systems, hypervisors, scripting languages, DevOps environments, and the concept of integrated systems management 
• Intermediate or expert understanding of Linux, Unix, and Microsoft Windows operating systems
• Intermediate or expert understanding with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V or KVM (Kernel based Virtual Machine)
• Intermediate or expert understanding of cloud environments such Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform
• Intermediate or expert understanding containerization technologies
• Intermediate or expert understanding container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, or Docker Swarm
• Intermediate or expert understanding of automation frameworks such as Terraform and Ansible
• Familiar with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, DB2, MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres, etc.) as well as NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc.)
• Experience writing technical documentation

 

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

• Familiar with issue tracking systems (Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps Boards, etc.)
• Intermediate understanding of build systems (e.g., Jenkins, TravisCI, GitHub Actions).
• Familiar with programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, Scala, Golang
• Familiar software build tools (e.g., Gradle, Maven, Gulp)
• Familiarity with storage and SAN technologies
• Familiarity with traditional LAN and WAN networks as well as software defined networks
• Familiarity of working with security log analysis, application log analysis, and general log management best practices.
