MacOS Platform Engineer

100% remote

We are looking for an experienced macOS Platform Engineer to support and scale our enterprise Apple environment within the aviation industry.

In this role, you will be responsible for the provisioning, management, security, automation, and continuous improvement of a large-scale macOS environment. You will work with modern Apple management technologies and contribute to building a reliable, secure, and highly automated endpoint platform for an enterprise environment with 1,000+ devices.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and further develop the Fleet-based MDM environment.
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of macOS devices, from provisioning and enrollment through configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Design and maintain macOS configuration profiles, policies, compliance controls, and security configurations.
• Package, test, deploy, update, and retire software across the macOS environment.
• Integrate and operate modern Apple Enterprise technologies, including Santa, Platform SSO (PSSO), and other Apple platform services.
• Develop and maintain automation for repetitive endpoint management and operational processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex macOS, MDM, identity, and endpoint management issues.
• Monitor the health, compliance, and configuration of the macOS fleet and proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Support the implementation and adoption of new Apple platform capabilities and macOS releases.
• Contribute to the architecture and continuous improvement of the Apple endpoint management platform.
• Collaborate with Security, IAM, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of the Apple platform into the wider enterprise environment.
• Apply platform engineering principles such as automation, standardization, version control, testing, and scalable operations.

Requirements

Must-have

• Professional experience with macOS administration and engineering, including a strong understanding of Darwin/BSD Unix.
• Experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or a comparable engineering-oriented infrastructure role.
• Hands-on experience managing macOS devices in an enterprise environment with 1,000+ endpoints.
• Strong understanding of device management concepts, MDM architecture, provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with macOS scripting and automation, particularly shell scripting such as Bash or Zsh.
• Understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) and enterprise authentication concepts.
• Experience with modern Apple Enterprise Management technologies and practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to design and operate scalable, reliable, and secure endpoint management solutions.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Fleet or similar Apple endpoint management platforms.
